The International Symposium on Electronic Art, ISEA2012 Albuquerque: Machine Wilderness is the eigtheenth annual symposium for ISEA International, an international nonprofit organisation founded in the Netherlands that fosters interdisciplinary discourse at the intersection of art and technology.
The 2012 Symposium is the first at a venue in the U.S., and also the first to deeply examine the complex relationships between technology and wilderness through the intersection of contemporary art, science, culture, and society. New Mexico and the Southwest region is not only the home of some of the most ‘wild’ places in the country, but also some of the most advanced technologies and scientific discoveries. As such, it offers the world a site for reflection and inspiration. Hosted by the University of New Mexico College of Fine Arts and 516 Arts in Albuquerque, ISEA2012 focuses on creative solutions for how technology and the natural world can sustainably co-exist.
