OPERATIONS AND DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

The Operations and Development Director ensures the smooth day-to-day running and financial wellbeing of small nonprofit artbook publisher through fundraising initiatives, artist events, donor cultivation, board communication, audit assistance, and meticulous financial oversight. 

OPERATIONS

  • Work closely with Publisher to ensure smooth day-to-day operation of bustling and successful nonprofit artbook publishing studio, including considerable administrative correspondence with all the artists, writers, and stakeholders of the organization, as well as office management.

  • Coordinate with artists, co-publishers, Managing Editor, and staff to ensure timely, accurate operations, budgets, and payments.

  • Work with Publisher, Production Coordinator, and distributor to determine print runs, how best to designate quantities, and oversee international bulk shipping with printer, freight forwarder, and warehouse.

  • Work closely with staff, vendors, artists, and bookkeeper to ensure all finances are accurate and up-to-date.

DEVELOPMENT

  • Work closely with Publisher and Board to facilitate planned gifts and the stewardship of endowed funds.

  • Research and cultivate philanthropic support from individuals, foundations, and corporations to Radius Books, including follow up, annual reporting, and ongoing communications.

  • Prepare and distribute Board materials in advance of quarterly meetings; take minutes at meetings; plan remote Board meetings and special events related to the Board.

  • Work with Sales & Marketing Director to raise funds for each book project; strategize about limited editions, grant funding, individual gifts, etc. to ensure each book project is fully funded.

  • Work with Sales & Marketing Director to coordinate VIP events at art fairs and regional events such as Paris Photo, FotoFest, and Printed Matter.

  • VIP Packages: organize occasional private trips, including studio visits, museum tours, and other bespoke fundraising events that foster direct relationships between donors and artists.

  • Artist Weekend: lead team on all aspects of biennial fundraiser, including all donor correspondence, artist relations, event planning, auction, financial tracking, and tax acknowledgment letters.

SKILLS

  • Degree in Arts Management, Communications, Marketing, Business or related field

  • 5+ years’ experience in publishing, media, arts, and/or nonprofit management

  • Google Suite (proficient), Adobe Suite (knowledgeable), QuickBooks (preferred)

  • Experience in event planning and management

  • Clear, concise, and compassionate communication with team members, donors, artists, and vendors

  • Knowledge and love of contemporary art and books

Salary $75,000+ / commensurate with experience.
Includes full medical insurance, 100% paid by employer.
