The Photobook Days 2010 will take place June 4-6, 2010, at the Deichtorhallen, the House of Photography, in Hamburg, Germany. The event is dedicated to celebrating the independence of the photo book.
The festival will include book launches and signings, reviews, workshops, lectures, and will conclude with the announcement of the winner of the “Photobook Award 2010“.
The “GetPublished Award 2010,” is open to photography book proposals. Information on the competition as well as the entry form may be found here. The deadline is May 10, 2010, and a panel of jurors will select a shortlist of ten submissions, which will be displayed to visitors during Photobook Days 2010. The winning project will be published by Seltmann + Söhne, and the finished book and production process will be presented at Photobook Days 2011.
Radius Books founding members Darius Himes and David Chickey will both be attending, where they will give a lecture about artist publisher collaboration on Saturday, June 5, and will also participate in the portfolio reviews throughout the weekend. A preliminary list of speakers includes: Hans-Michael Koetzle, Horst Moser, Prof. Hans Dickel, Rob Hornstra, Andrew Phelps, Oliver Seltmann, Alexa Becker, Ulf Doering, Hannes Wanderer, Christof Kerber, Jörg Koopmann, Volker Gerling, Ulrich Rüter, Prof. Hans Meyer-Veden, Jann Müller-Wiefel, Prof. Peter Blalobrzeski, and the Kolkata Heritage Photo Project.
